To communicate with Nature and our Spirit Guides, first we must recognize the signs and messages, and then we must learn to translate them so we can integrate those messages into our life. In order to recognize messages from Nature we have to develop our Senses. In order to translate the Messages we must develop our Understanding of Symbology.
Nature communicates to us through the physical senses and through our Intuitive sense. All people have the ability to communicate with Nature. You do not need to be a certain kind of person with “special abilities.” You have those special abilities already in you; they are innate.
The more time you spend in nature, the more your senses will heighten. Interpreting and translating messages is an intuitive process that requires introspection and awareness. If you are looking for answers they will come to you, you just have to keep all channels open in your mind for the guidance to surface. You will know, and it will make sense, but you just have to be open to the information even if it is not always pleasant or what you want to hear.
You will also have to accept that your Spirit Guide or Messenger may not appear in the form you are expecting. Someone may tell you a story about a fox, and you may find it more “cool” than your story about a worm, but trust me there is no more importance based off what type of animal, or plant etc, that you experience guidance from. It is all equal and beautiful. (P.S. worms are awesome.)
When you first begin to recognize Signs and Symbols in Nature you may feel the urge to tell people about it, or ask them what it means. Try not to do this, because it will distract you from the message you are trying to receive. If you see something amazing on a hike with a friend, don’t just start talking about it and trying to explain and prove that you saw it. Simply recognize the beauty and stay aware so that your mind can bring that message through. There may be multiple things that appear or happen and it all will make sense later. If you talk about it you will miss out on more of the message. You also may have the tendency to get really excited and think it must be “just a coincidence” or a “miracle.” If you continue on this path of awakening, you will get used to the patterns and moments where you feel like saying, “Aha!”. Yes, it will be awesome and telling, but you will learn to accept this as normal and not as a once-in-a-while experience. You will experience those moments every day, and it will expand your awareness, creativity, confidence, and ability to solve problems in your life.
Be open to messages in your dreams as well. Often our dreams and the symbols and messages we see in Nature are tied together and work the same magic. Messages in Nature are multidimensional and will provide confirmation. You will get better and better about recognizing what spirits are communicating and you will be open to all of the ways that the messages expand upon themselves because it is not always a simple answer. You will learn to put multiple signs together and see the big picture.
Don’t be worried about what you think you are “imagining.” You have to allow those inner workings of the mind to move freely. When we open our third-eye more and more we will be able to see through our mind’s eye, and our intuition will be guiding us, helping us understand metaphors and symbols. Some people are attuned to seeing light beings, angels, auras, faeries, and other nature spirits. These are not just mythical creatures and imaginative fairytale stories. Open your mind to possibility.
The plants on this earth mirror our truths and reveal them. Symbolically they are just like us. We all grow, reproduce, communicate, defend ourselves, and adapt. Plants are so important though because they actually maintain all of the natural world. They are true alchemists- life changers, lesson-bringers, weather-forecasters, travelers, life-supporters. Animals will often take the form of archetypal energies that are potentially symbolic. Just as rivers, mountains, storms, and earthquakes can do the same.
Creative imagination, visualization, and symbols are things that help us develop our highest potential. We can access deeper levels of consciousness when we are open to images and symbols that alter our perception. We will learn to see what is “hidden” and be able to process information in empowering ways.
How to Connect with Your Intuition and Spirit Guides
As you may know, there are simple ways to connect to Nature… It is best to try and enjoy our time in nature, and recognize all of it as potentially symbolic, even the things that happen that appear to be “bad” (like being bothered by a mouse in your home). When you are in Nature, allow the right side of your brain, your creative imaginative side, to work openly. Don’t be concerned by all of the specific names of plants and animals, just look at their behavior, color, the direction it is facing or moving, how many, and how the presence makes you feel.
You are ONE with the EARTH. Remember that. Be aware of that truth when you are in Nature. When you are at home and do other activities, or when you are even out in a store for example, you may start to recognize the same signs you saw in nature. It all starts to appear to you and reinforces what you felt guided to believe. Some people like to draw cards from a tarot deck, or some type of set of cards for divination. This will also help you find the confirmation on your path and show you more of the symbology in your messages along your path. There is no wrong way to draw a card for yourself. You do not need a “psychic” to do this for you. It is an intuitive process that can be done anytime and anywhere by yourself or with a friend.
You can gather things as you go to remember some of the things that spoke to you. If you take something from Nature, remember to give thanks and give back. For example, I will even ask for the permission to take something from a tree or plant.
When you start something new or feel a transformation coming on, look for guidance and confirmation on your path in nature and otherwise. The messages will come. Stay open and aware.
Take a Hike!
You know that saying, “Take a hike!” Well it is used when someone is not acting appropriate or is bothering someone for some reason. Maybe that person just needs to relax or get a new perspective. Going to actually take a “hike” or a “walk in nature” is probably one of the best and easiest ways to relax and awaken to our inner truth as we also can find solutions to issues we may be having. When you are walking or sitting, feel the peace in your heart and open up to all the Universal Intelligence available to you.
Through sacred silence you may experience the wonder of Nature even more intimately. If you walk by trees, gently touch them, look at flowers and smell them, watch birds and listen. Wait for tiny noises to get louder as they come closer. If you are peaceful, animals and plants will feel the vibrations and open up to your presence. Give thanks for what you experience. The best times to do this activity are during the “In-Between Times” of dusk and dawn. The veils between realms are thinner at these times and spirits reveal themselves more readily. As you walk and sit, if you feel fear or doubt arise, inhale peace, exhale negativity.
It is not always the animate objects in our life that show us signs and messages. We may stumble upon an inanimate object that literally screams a message at us. (For Example: You walk into a shop and there on the counter is a beautiful sculpture of a deer, and you had just been thinking about deer, or you have a strong connection to them, or maybe you just really feel drawn to it and you receive a message from it.)
AND, of course, billboards and road sign advertisements do this all the time, but within those are possible messages too. Listen for the tiny voice that explains things in your mind. What is it saying? How do you feel about the way you interpret messages? If you feel like you are having a lot of self-doubt or negativity rise up in your mind, this may be your message.
