I have a lot to share about the transits happening astrologically right now. My focus for today is about Understanding Jupiter Moving Through Libra Into Scorpio Sextile Black Moon Lilith in Sagittarius. I will explain the significance of Jupiter, the Black Moon, Libra, Scorpio and Sagittarius and why they are relevant. Then, I’ll note some important dates in regard to aspects of other impactful transitions, and why they matter.
What’s Going On?
On February 15, 2017 the Black Moon moved from the sign of Scorpio, into the sign of Sagittarius. It will stay in Sagittarius until November 10, 2017, when it moves into the sign of Capricorn. Meanwhile Jupiter has been in the sign of Libra since September 9, 2016 and moves into the sign of Scorpio on October 10, 2017. Jupiter and the Black Moon have been in a sextile position (separated by an angle of 60 degrees, 1/6 of a circle) since May 15, 2017, and will be until October 16, 2017. Therefore, the emphasis of this article is to show the importance of the sextile between Jupiter and the Black Moon from May 15 to October 16, and to explain what the Black Moon in Sagittarius transit has been about. Most noteworthy to some will also be the difference between Jupiter in Libra and Jupiter in Scorpio.
Understanding Jupiter Moving Through Libra Into Scorpio Sextile Black Moon Lilith
A lot of Astrologers are talking about Jupiter moving into Scorpio. There are also other planetary aspects involved that are contributing to influences happening. However, I’d like to focus on the sextile of Jupiter and the Black Moon. To do that, first I will make some points about the changes occurring very soon. On October 10, Jupiter will move from Libra (where it’s been since September 9, 2016) into Scorpio until November 8, 2018. So, we’re about to shift the energy of the planet Jupiter’s influence from a Libra vibe to a Scorpio vibe. Basically, the past year we’ve had the energy of Jupiter in Libra and will for the year ahead have Jupiter in Scorpio.
Jupiter is a King Planet that rules with a kind spirit. It is the biggest planet in our solar system and has an immense presence. It highlights the ways in which faith in life and our inner self is vital. If you associate the word “faith” with rigid or narrow belief systems, that’s not what I mean here. True faith is simply an awareness that life itself is worth living. This planets’ influence is ultimately about building confidence.
Depending on the sign Jupiter is in, it will embody different energetic signatures. This effects how it plays a role in our lives. Jupiter helps us recover quickly from obstacles or confusion. Consequently, this makes it a positive influence when it is able to lift us back into our place of strength. Yet, if we take all the positive energy from Jupiter’s influence for granted, we skip the critical lessons Jupiter teaches.
The main lesson is this: Not to deny the reality of negativity with an overly optimistic, fake front.
As expansive, cheerful, and generous as Jupiter might make us feel, we may be forced to realize how our tendency toward self-importance is making us fools.
Jupiter in Libra
Jupiter’s approach for the past year has been to teach us gently about how to harmonize our relationships. I never said it was easy. Many of us have had some rude awakenings in our connections with others. The key with Libra ways is to learn to recognize the signs of imbalances early on, to remain calm and serene. To do this, we have been finding ways to gain back control over our nervous systems with conscious awareness.
The more we have integrated these lessons over the past year, the more likely we have formed tight bonds with important people in our lives. For some, they may have tried, and just held on to this pseudo state of peace, where just tolerating the other seems like an accomplishment. With Jupiter in Libra, you’ve either been working really hard to find true equilibrium in your core relationships, or you’ve been fooling yourself as you skip along pretending everything is just fine. Probably also gathering lots of fake friends too. Due to the symbolic “scales”, this could have brought up a lot of questions in your mind either way.
Have you been keeping your options open, or did you finally decide what to do? The reality check of Jupiter in Libra, is it doesn’t actually matter what you choose, because the pressure under your peaceful exterior image is still growing. You can say you’re all peace, love, and friendly vibes for days, but life still happens. Don’t forget that truth itself is an act of balancing the awareness of both sides. Every truth is balanced. (Light/Dark, Good/Evil, Happy/Sad). Remember to take this awareness with you as you move forward…
Jupiter in Scorpio
As we move into Jupiter in Scorpio the shift may feel intense for some. For those familiar with Scorpio energy it might not come as such a shock. Scorpio can bring forth knowledge that is uncomfortable to say the least. Information most would rather not gaze upon or acknowledge. With all struggles, if we find the courage to deal with our fears head on, we end up realizing we were stronger than we thought. Then everything makes more sense and we move on. Scorpio burns away all the fake smiles and false images. Nothing is hidden with Scorpio. Even the unconscious thoughts, wounding, behavioral patterns, or repressed memories may become conscious, surfacing to serve us a plate of healthy food for thought. How will you be able to digest all that?
Instead of trying to rationalize it in the mind, Scorpio feels it deeply. Instead of trying to logically obtain what it wants, Scorpio will take action based in the heart of feeling.
Here is the key to the energetic shift we will be experiencing soon, when Jupiter moves into Scorpio: To create an alignment with our heart and actions.
If we have to be scared into the deeper self-knowledge that Scorpio delivers, so be it. Jupiter will be lifting us back up every time we think we can’t handle a new revelation. We each choose how we will utilize the blessings of this Jupiter in Scorpio influence. To truly integrate the lessons means NOT suppressing the difficult feelings. We will be exploring our feelings deeply, which means possibly looking at some really twisted distortions that need to be uncovered and clarified within ourselves and in society.
Jupiter in Scorpio’s Lessons
Jupiter in Scorpio is going to make us realize that our own death is inescapable, and that NOW is the time to truly LIVE and make the choices that will release us from holding back our power. We each contain so much vital life force energy that can be used for the greater good of all. Jupiter in Scorpio will help us navigate the terrain of our feelings. Therefore, showing us how to embrace our truth and embrace our need for deep emotional encounters with others.
Jupiter in Scorpio will be taking us on our own individual and collective introspective journey, deep into the heart of what truly matters. We will go deep into our own mind and the minds of others at times. This could make us suspicious of others’ intentions, or more understanding of them. Sometimes what Scorpio brings to the table causes people to pull away and want to escape. When we seek ambitions over aspirations we fall into the trap of reaching and striving. Trying to get more money, “followers”, or power will show you your way of life based in self-interest. We are being led to realizing that a life of service is the change we need to make. A life of accumulation isn’t working.
Straight to the Point with Scorpio
People want healers, gurus, and anyone charismatic enough to grab their attention to tell them the way, show them the list of what to do, structure their life with rules… But Jupiter in Scorpio will make us realize that WE must LIVE with our SELF. And the way to be happy is literally to have a quiet relationship with our self, do good work, and be honest.
For those who choose to deny their feelings, or to stuff theirs or oppress others, they will have to deal with their own shadow in the dark – self-absorption and desperate measures may occur. This is why you may see people constantly pointing out what’s wrong with their lives. Always mentioning their anxiety and frequently identifying with stories they tell about what just happened, or what they fear will happen. They’re avoiding their truth within, and can’t deal with the pressure to stay present and look in the mirror. Instead of stroking folks’ egos which enables them to keep over-sharing their moody self-important sob-stories, encourage people to find the truth behind their own actions. (This is different from helping someone deal with grief. A “sob-story” is when someone is intending to get sympathy and attention. Grief counseling for truly sensitive matters are not ego-based attempts for attention.)
Serve the SOUL not the Ego. Become more, accumulate less.
More on Jupiter…
In my book, Astrology of Herbs and Tarot, in Part 12 – “Planetary Signatures”, I offer a portrait of Jupiter from various angles. Jupiter rules the 9th House of the Zodiac, which is the terrain of our lives pertaining to Mind Expansion, Higher Learning and The Search for Meaning. Most noteworthy at this point in the article is that it also corresponds to tarot cards #10 & #14. Below are each of these cards from 3 different decks that I like to use.
The Wild Unknown Tarot
The Wild Wood Tarot
These cards remind us to stay open minded and enjoy the process of manifesting abundance, while valuing and honoring the creative balance of the light and dark within our own nature.
Jupiter Sextile Black Moon Lilith
Jupiter has been in a sextile position with Black Moon Lilith since May 15 and will stay there until October 16. We have a short window of opportunity left to make full use of this beautiful aspect. A sextile position is when two celestial bodies are separated by an angle of 60 degrees (a half trine). It is generally considered to be a harmonious aspect and indicates areas in life that will go well for people. This sextile has been helping us learn and expand our horizons with more ease than normal. It’s an exciting aspect to have as we continue to move through Libra into Scorpio next Tuesday. With all that has been happening in the world, let this week be lived with full awareness and grounded intention. The Black Moon will stay in Sagittarius until November 8, then it moves into Capricorn.
Black Moon Lilith
The Black Moon Lilith has no material presence, it’s just an apogee of the Moon’s orbit. Black Moon Lilith is not a solid object, but a point of alignment. It is the point that is farthest from the Earth. It has about a 9 year orbit, and stays about 9 months in each sign. Right now it is in the Mutable Fire sign Sagittarius. The emphasis is on developing courage, calming impulsive behaviors and following through on projects. We are also in the process of ending certain cycles as we adapt and take the final steps needed for transformational soul evolution.
Black Moon Lilith in Sagittarius
The Black Moon reveals our souls’ deepest and darkest desires for expression, as well as the motivations behind our intense emotions. It has been in the sign of Sagittarius since February 15 and will move into Capricorn on November 8. During this time we’ve been and will continue to be influenced by the Sagittarius energies of the Black Moon. What this means is – unfiltered independence and no sugar-coated social gloss. Sagittarius is not concerned with the past so much as it is the future. With the Sagittarius influence we have even more of the truth seeking and expansive energy being forced upon us, and are being urged to use our anger wisely.
This sign’s influence could have us feeling aggressive if we feel trapped or held back from this expansive energy wanting to flow. As truth-seekers trying to see the optimism each day may have in store, piercing through horrific news articles and gloomy updates, we are being called to explore the world’s experiences as our own. We may feel like we’re free falling right into the dark truths of other people, which may be difficult or disturbing. But, these experiences are meant to help us make sure justice is served and that we may emerge with integrity, restored and with more compassion and awareness. We have this inner pull to bring fairness back to the imbalanced situations we’ve discovered. A lot of lies and twisted perceptions have been revealed.
Black Moon Lilith in Your Birth Chart
My Black Moon was in the sign of Sagittarius when I was born, so I’m very familiar with all this. Hence, why I decided to share. I am no stranger to all things Scorpio and Libra as well being a Scorpio Sun with my South Node in Libra. Anyway, after reading the rest of “Understanding Jupiter Moving Through Libra Into Scorpio Sextile Black Moon Lilith” – if you’d like me to tell you what sign your Black Moon was in when you were born, just send me a message here, and I’ll tell you for free!
Black Moon in Sagittarius People
We come in many varieties of course, as you’ll see. Some notable people with Black Moon in Sagittarius are: Me, David Bowie, Stephen Spielberg, Donald Trump, Deepak Chopra, Cher, Audrey Hepburn, Russel Crowe. Yep, for real… Wide variety of personalities there. I’m telling you all this for many reasons.
These transits and aspects are happening to us all, and some of us more intensely than others and in a variety of ways. But, Black Moon in Sagittarius people have one thing in common. Most people in the world do not fully understand us. We may be great writers or public speakers but we have a difficulty communicating so as to help others know us deeply. You may think you do, but nope. Our best quality is our fiery ability to move ourself into action and move other people into action. It just happens with everyone we come into contact with.
We take the time to experience things that help us find truth. This includes sifting through lies and deceit, illusions, dogmas and false teachers. We put our trust in the intuition, knowledge and faith we have within and reject all that is false or that has given us a false identity. Deep in our psyche is a free spirit that doesn’t like being shackled.
This influential pairing of the Black Moon and Sagittarius is upon us. If you haven’t been feeling it, maybe you will be more keen to it for the next 5 weeks before it moves into Capricorn.
Black Moon Squaring Chiron
For those people with self-righteous agendas, and the need to always be “right”, this transit has been extremely tough, and unfortunately outweighs their common sense. Also relevant is the fact that the Black Moon has been squaring Chiron since September 21, and will do so until October 17. So with the sextile blessing with Jupiter, we also have this disharmonious aspect with Chiron (The Wounded Healer). Squares just push us to evolve and move forward, even if it is a bit more stressful and tense. The lessons here are about HEALING. We are nearing the end of the transit of the Black Moon in Sagittarius, and need to consider the knowledge we have gained.
What are the lessons we’ve learned and the personal work that needs to be done? Where can we give more to others, not just to our own needs?
Other Important Aspects:
Uranus and Venus
- Uranus has been in a trine with the Black Moon since September 29, and will stay until October 26. This will be helpful and supportive. Uranus symbolizes painful & traumatic long term memories, so this is a great aspect to have happening as we do the work I’ve shared above.
- Venus will trine the Black Moon from October 11-14 & be in a sextile from November 6-10, helping us restore our emotional well-being, stabilize relationships that have been shaken, and feel support from those who care about us.
Mercury, Mars and the Sun
- Mercury will be in a sextile with the Black Moon from October 15-18, adding even more harmonious energy into the mix when it comes to our ability to communicate the information we’ve been gathering and wanting to share.
- Mars will be squaring the Black Moon from October 16-23, pushing us to speak up when needed, in a consciously assertive way, without resentment.
- The Sun will be in a sextile with the Black Moon from October 19-24 shedding light on the most important parts of all we’ve learned, showing us who we really are.
The day before my birthday the Black Moon will move into Capricorn. I’ll be 36 on 11-11. I’ve been thinking a lot about all of this, and with sharing, I hope my words and the meanings I’ve woven together inspire you on your path.
